n-scale chesapeake & ohio

my sd-40-2 (from kato) will sit but will not run i have a dcc decoder in it ti used to run but know it will have only lights and won't run forward or reverse can anyone give me a reason and cure for this ???
models the C&O in 1945-55 happily in Canada :D

If in doubt, reset the decoder first. Or you could try programming a new address to it in paged mode. Also make sure to check CV29 and make sure it is not in a consist.

Sounds like your decoder is not making contact with the motor. If it is a drop in lightboard replacement the motor contacts can sometimes look like they are making contact, but are not. Bend them in carefully to make sure there is contact. If it is hard wired, check the solder joints on the Orange and grey wires. In both cases make sure there are no shorts.
