Hi all,

After dabbling in HOn3, I've decided to make the jump to On30 - specifically, a freelanced Pacific Northwest logging line.

I've got my eyes on the Bachmann Shay and Climax engines, but I'm aware that there have been gear issues with these particular models.  I was just wondering, do the latest runs (with Tsunami sound onboard) also have these issues, or have these been resolved?

Cheers,

Dear Danny,
It's possible to get a bad gear, but we do have replacements.
We will stand behind your loco.
Have fun!

Hello TBDANNY ,I bought  two shays in December 2011,both had issues with the gears, being in Australia ,I wasn't going to return the locos for warranty repairs. An email to the spare parts dept  soon resolved my dilemma, the parts arrived quickly, and I was able to replace them myself. The replacement gears  are slightly different to the gears supplied on the loco.(more  material on the back end of the gear, making it stronger)I must also state I bought a Shay loco earlier in the year and it works perfectly well :) :)I can only give full marks to the spare parts dept for quick, responsive and friendly service. :) :) :)
