dcc
does each dcc loco come with a throttle  ??? ;D

Good Morning,

Your wording is a bit confusing.    Each engine coming from a manufacturer comes in one of four ways.   First,  an engine that is not set up to have a decoder installed,  meaning the motor is isolated from the frame.  Second,  engine comes dcc ready which means all one needs to do is install the decoder.   Third,  an engine comes with a standard decoder(chip) installed.  The fourth way is an engine that comes with dcc and sound.   Oh...forgot,  engines that come with sound but NO dcc.
In my understanding,  a controller would be a throttle,  and no engine comes with a throttle unless it comes a set with the throttle and system included

you wouldn't want each dcc locomotive to come with its own controller. dcc controllers from different manufacturers are not compatable with each other. some from the same manufacturer (digitrax or nce for example) can be used in a master-slave arrangement.

specific to bachmann, the ez command is capable of running up to 10 locomotives. you cannot add another ez command as an additional controller, but they do have a walk around companion you can use for this purpose.

dcc provides each locomotive with a different address. (you have to program this yourself.) you can switch between addresses to run different locomotives, similar to changing channels on a tv.
