Thanks for the Carter Bros links great history lesson, also thanks Kevin for your historical insights.

Goes to show that there always seems to be a prototype for most things we do.

I do not have a problem with smaller engines Moguls and Atlantics in 1:20.3 scale pulling 1:22.5/24 scale cars.

As far as my railroad goes, I do not care for the look of the larger Spectrum (K-27 or Connie) engines pulling 1:22.5/24 scale cars.  In my mind it just doesn't look right.  I have pulled Accucraft J&S coaches with an LGB Mogul.  That looks OK.  There are plenty of pictures of small engines pulling larger cars.  I haven't seen any pictures with large (oversized engines) pulling small cars.

From my measurements, all American style Narrow Gauge freight cars (Big Hauler (Bachmann), LGB, USA, and Delton) are closer to 1:24 than they are to 1:22.5.  The length of all these cars are nearly identical.  Delton advertised its cars as 1:24 and it scales out to 1:24.
