I'm relatively new to "G/Large Scale" and have a question regarding the "polarity" switch under the hood of my new Davenport. Which position does it need to be in to run properly without any extras installed; NMRA or Large?

Thanks in advance for the help with this Newbie's question!

If you are only running that engine it doesn't matter.  If you are going to run it with other engines it can matter.  Most large scale engines are wired the way LGB wired its engines.  This goes for USAt, AristoCraft, Accucraft and most other manufacturers.  The NMRA standard, largely from smaller scales has an opposite polarity.  If an engines wired for large scale and it runs clockwise around the track and you then put one switched to NMRA on the track it will run counter clockwise.

Some of Bachmann's engines have the switch, some don't.  I put the switch on "large", or rewire the engine if it is wired for NMRA (Thomas) and there is no switch.
