Hey guys.

Have a GP40 Bachman.  THe stock PCB has no inductors or capacitors, yet the old board in the
parts list has these electronic items.  What are they for?  lights?... something else?      ??? ???

Only locos with the inductors and capacitors on the PC board are for DCC. The compnents have no effect when running on DC if the DC adapter or decoder is plugged in.
The EU requires these components to filter out certain frequencies produced by the decoders.
Many users remove the caps as the caps affect slow speed operation with decoders that have BEMF. Some locos, you can plug in a decoder. With no caps, the inductors are a moot point.
That is another discussion.
Older Bachmann locos that were not for DCC would not have the components. The PC board was only to tie all the connections together and hold the lights in place.

I can see the choices I have Rich from your excellent response.  The items of interest are for DCC,
which I don't have, but maybe for the future.  Thanks. :)
