Ihave  several issues aboutbthis locomotive.

I need to replace a motor in an older EMD SD45 that I am converting to DCC. I can't find a replacement motor with the correct drive shaft coupling on the flywheels.  Anyone have any idea where I can get one?

Also, if I am converting to dcc do I need the resistors on the motorr?

Is ther a reason you can't use the ones off the old motor?

The old motor is toast and I was able ro remove the flywheels, but I'm not sure I can press on the flywheels onto  the replacement motor shafts without damaging the motor.  Also the old motor did not work with a decoder.

I use a "C" clamp to press gears and such onto motors.

If you don't want to try it and don't have a local train shop that can do it, try taking it to a clock repair shop they can usually do it.
