What is the easiest or best way to install these backgrounds on a slighly textured sheetrock wall. I know they say spray contact cement, but not much working time with that. Any other ideas?

You can use wallpaper paste. It might be better to apply the background to a piece
of 1/8" hardboard and then attach that to the wall. It will do less damage to the wall
which may be a consideration if the layout is ever removed.

Another advantage of mounting the background on 1/8" hardboard is you can bend it into a gentle curve to hide 90deg wall angles or basement support posts.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.

I agree with everyone about using a backing board and then attaching that to your wall.

When I use contact spray adhesive on items that I need to position I spray both and wait for them to dry to the touch like the instructions say to do, then I lay wax paper over one peice and position the other peice, I then pull the wax paper out a little at a time as I stick the items together.
