I have On30 Bachman passenger cars and I need to raise up the car so the couplers

will match. These trucks are not attached using a screw, so how can I remove these

trucks to insert a washer for spacing.

Thanks

The trucks are screwed in with a screw that extends down through the floor.  The screws can be reached by removing the roof.  However, a better option would be to use an offset coupler.  Use an under-shank coupler to raise the knuckle; an over-shank coupler to lower the knuckle.  I would also check the coupler height with a gauge and make sure that it is the couplers on the cars that are off and not what you are attaching them to.

Thanks Paul,

I'll check with the train shop to obtain these couplers.

Foothill Modelworks also sells scale extended knuckles for a variety of couplers. On the prototype (real trains) these are quite common, even still today. Watch any long industrial freight train and you see extended knuckle couplers.

Keith Wiseman of Wiseman Locomotive works also makes some.

I have use the Foothill Modelworks castings and they work very well.

Both of these companies have websites with photos of the parts I have described.
