I guess you could solder brass wire to make the ladders as well.  The older versions have the plastic ladders which seem pretty weak.

Any other ideas on plastic ladder replacements??

Stanchions and railing are a commonplace item in the model ship world... here is just an example of the kind of stuff that's available ready to use with minimal modification, in many sizes:

Good luck,

You are a wealth of help. That web page gave me some ideas in making some repairs

for some of the hobby things we have here around the house.

Thanks and leave it to those masterful Germans to engineer some cool stuff.

I decided to take out all the rail parts. I gently filled the tank with a can of that expanding foam. trimmed off what came out the holes, dabbed on some black paint when it dried. Took the very small cotter pins (also painted black) pushed them into the hardened foam, pulled them out put in a little rubber cement put the pins back in. Took some black anodized wire  and fed it through the pins. In the center under the platforms, I took a small black wire shrink wrap tubes and heated them up over the loose ends so the finished product looks like a turn buckle connection

I would be happy to show you my cotter key stanchions but I don't know how to attach a photo to my post. Computer skill for me are basic!

Tom you have to join a site like photobucket.com then copy the picture to it, then post here the reference from photobucket.  Check it out!  bill
