Is this loco still a current B'mann production item? How do they stack up?

Hi Joe,

While still available, I don't think they are in production.

This is a well made product.  From my experience they are excellent mechanisms.  The overall locomotive holds up well and many have been kitbashed.

My understanding is that from a business standpoint, they were not stellar and therefore, not likely to reappear on the market in a new production run any time soon.

Joe,

The Davenport is a great runner with nice detail. It is not in the 2013 catalog which is a sure sign they are likely sold out at the Bachmann warehouse, and also a sure sign that they are not in the schedule for a production rerun, at least for now.

Thanks guys. I just ordered one from Trainworld (http://www.trainworldonline.com/catalog/bachmann/g-scale/diesel-locomotives/davenport-0-4-0-unlettered-yellow-black-91396) for the UNBELIEVEABLE price of $99.

Bill,

You are quite right, I am delighted. My Davenport arrived today and the first thing I did after taking it out of the box was change the couplers so they will mate with all my rolling stock (BH 1:22.5). I next put it out on the pike with a 6 car train and ran it around and through all my spurs and sidings and it is WONDERFUL! Anyone looking for a great little loco at a GREAT closeout price should grab one (or two)  while they last.
