Bachmann BoCo

Time for another absurd theory from yours truly.

So far, the CGI team at Arc has brought back Duck, Bill, Ben and Jack to the show. Rumors going around about an episode called "Gone Fishing" say that Harvey will be returning as well. It feels like with Season 18 looming on the horizon (some sites are saying Spring 2014), that BoCo is bound to return soon. This got me thinking, how hard would it be to make BoCo? For awhile, nobody knew Duck was going to be in CGI, so his Bachmann model came as a surprise.

- His body is essentially one big mold, which means it's less demanding on the assembly line
- His body also has lots of room for a powerful, heavy chassis

With these points considered, it seems like BoCo would be a really easy engine to do that would guarantee the approval of Bachmanns faithful fans.

Thoughts on this? Would you buy a Bachmann BoCo?

Despite BoCo not appearing since season 5, I am all for the idea of him appearing in the Bachmann line.  Especially since every diesel engine that is currently in the range, and soon to be at that, are all smaller diesel engines.  BoCo gives good variety as he is a large diesel engine and would be a huge seller since there is no model of BoCo available anywhere.  Plus he would go along nicely with the Bill and Ben models, and even the Duck model for that matter!

Him and/or Oliver would make a nice lineup for new engines in the HO line next year!

BoCo would make a nice model to own. he would add diversity with the diesel engines because he's not a shunter. we need bigger diesels there are already too many shunter diesels and BoCo would make a great addition.

Actually, it is not a rumor. It has been confirmed on abc in their listings.

I am always willing to help the best way I can. :)

I agree. A BoCo model would be lovely for Bachmann's Thomas the Tank Engine range for all the reasons stated above. And if they did make BoCo, I think that this is the face best suited for him:

Bachmann never ceases to amaze me :)

Like the Scottish Twins, Bachmann are sitting on another big gold mine here; Boco would sell incredibly well. He'd also, as mentioned, make a nice change to the smaller diesels we currently have.

One issue that would arise with the mode is the moving eye mechanism. All of the other models have cog leading directly to the motor to operate it but are always in line with it. The driving motor for Boco would have to suitin one of his bogeys, which meant as that turns for corners, so would the motor. The moving eyes would either have to be omitted or put on a desperate motor, which could affect the cost.
I'm sure something could be worked out but the moving eyes would certainly prove trouble to include.

I would think that since BoCo's eyes sit in the middle of his body, his leading bogey could be attached to a swivel point under the eye mechanism. I'd think the chassis would be very similar to the American line's FT diesel locos:

The bogeys would be fitted on the under side of the chassis (obviously), and the eye mechanism would sit atop it. A gear mechanism would have to be sorted out though, as the FTs utilize driveshafts rather than gears.

I remember when I first joined the forum my first thread was about why BoCo should be made. I agree 100% that if Bachmann made BoCo he would be a great seller.  :)

I'd love to see bachmann make boco  :Dhe would be something different for the line and they could reuse his face to make a daisy model!

Don't know if will happen or not. ???

I feel that they will make it sooner or later. It would increase publicity and probably get them lots of money.
I can't wait to see if they make Oliver, toad, BoBo, or any new model. I also realized for some reason that the motor in bachmann thomas models is housed in plastic, which is giving me second thoughts on making bachmann remakes. You can give your opinion on this if you want to :P
