Frank, the easiest way I have found to remove LGB rail joiners is to use a hammer and a large screwdriver.

Place the track on a hard surface and put the blade on the top of the joiner up against the end of the rail and give the end of the screw driver a tap or two with the hammer.  You will have to secure the track so it doesn't move.  The rail will slide back and you can then lift out the joiner. Slide back the rail into its original position and you are ready to go.

This does not work on switches, crossings, power tracks, etc.  Just regular track.

This only works on LGB TRACK.

Thank You that is just about what I am doing
