Purchased new Bachmann 2-8-4 and front coupler for engine was completely detached from engine and was (is) a group of parts.
need help on assembling front coupler and mounting same on front of 2-8-4.

coupler is not shown on parts diagram.

Thanks

Mech,

The front coupler assembly is shown in the diagram.  A single screw holds the coupler and cap of the coupler box (draft gear box).

Under the pilot (front of loco) is a small hole for the screw.  You slip the coupler through the front slot and lay the cap and screw on top, while the loco is upside down.

Hope that helps.

Jonathan

Jonathan - Thanks very much for your directions re the front coupler.

I must confess to my lack of attention when I said the parts diagram didn't show the front coupler. It helps if one refers to the proper diagram Wink

Thanks again for your help- front coupler is now in place.

Only out of curiosity; why6 would you just want the non-functioning(dummy) coupler, rather than installing a functioning (Kadee comes to mind) coupler?

The included coupler is a functioning EZ mate. They work fine. I do replace mine with scale head couplers.
