Hi ,I'm new here, just found this web site.
I have a Bachmann G scale train set I bought about 8 years ago. About 6 years ago the side bars came loose on the steam engine.     They move and lock up the wheels when I attempt to run it. I have been unable to find anyone to repair it.
Does anyone know how I can repair it ? Or where I can get it repaired ?
I live in north central Pa., Williamsport.
                                                               Thanks

Hi,

Bachmann has a repair service.

Click on this link for information.

http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/service.php

This is their busiest time so it may take a little longer for turnaround.

If you are having a Christmas emergency you could just remove the side rods on both sides and the locomotive should at  least run until you can get repairs.

Happy holidays.

Hi Stant,

Check out the forum thread from December 27 entitled "Wonderland Express Steam Engine Wheel Alignment" and especially the diagram link from Hunt.  That should show you how the wheels have to be "quartered" in order to run properly.  If the plastic pins that hold the side rods on are missing or broken, you'll have to get new ones or use small screws.  To use screws, the wheels will have to be tapped, or you can secure the screws with glue.

Good luck!
