hi all, my daughter has lost her adapter for the standard 46605 controller! i have loads of adapters several of which are 16v but some have center pin as positive some have center pin as negative? is th center pin of bachman controllers positive or negative? anyone know? cheers rob

The transformer output used with the 46605 is AC not DC.
Output: AC16V 1000mA 16VA

thats what it says in my heading? fully aware its 1amp but surely the output to the track is 12v? still dosen't answer my question, center pin positive or negative? cheers rob

rob,
The polarity of the center pin is only applicable if the output is DC.

The 46605 handles the DC output to track

cool. so most of my adapters already provide dc so no good for this controller. hmm need a new plan. cheers rob

Bloks

Try with DC voltmeter. Standard red/black wires red is "+" black is "-" (Before test with some battery - AA or AAA size or other).
If digital voltmeter is displayed "-" sign before numbers - red/black wires is сonversely connected.
If zero or many fast changing values displayed - AC (not DC) on contacts.
