I bought this Anniversary Edition 4-6-0 Rio Grande Southern G Scale Steam Locomotive last month and I notice that the rear right won't lit. Busted bulb maybe or wiring/conn problem? 'not so sure. I appreciate any help on this small problem.

Thanks,
Ranron

Are you sure it is wired.  I have seen some engines that have a dummy backup lamp on the tender.  Just a suggestion.

Chuck

PS most only work when the engine is backing up.  Have you tried it in both directions?

Hi. I own 4 Anniversary Edition Locos and not a single one of them came with the rear lamp wired. You could do it yourself by purchasing a 3-5 mm warm white LED bulb and the tender plug sold on Bachmanns parts site:
http://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_69_671_148&products_id=5225
and do it yourself. I have a dummy Anniversary Edition(just a rolling shell: no motor, wiring, etc. ) and I wiredthe rear tender lamp on mine with a 5mm warm white LED bulb , a 9 volt battery, and a 9 volt battery snap cap. Looks pretty good when the dummy is being doubleheadded with one of my powered locos!
Anyway, I hope this was useful to you!
Later,
Andrew

Hi All,

All the Big Hauler 4-6-0's have a dummy rear headlight, except for woodburners which are not equipped with a rear headlight at all.

All Anniversary 4-6-0's equipped with a rear headlight have working rear headlights when bought new from a factory authorized dealer.  They work only when the locomotive is moving to the rear. There is a wire on the front of the tender marked lights which must be plugged into the slot for it on the locomotive.

Version 5 Anniversary 4-6-0's:

81000   NP&S   12   2006   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, North Pole & Southern Ver 5            Sam's Club Set
81000   NP&S   205   2005   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, North Pole & Southern Ver 5            Sam's Club Set
81000   NP&S   1225   2004   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, North Pole & Southern Ver 5   P         Bach & Boscov
81000   WP&Y   14   2007   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, White Pass & Yukon Ver 5            S
81088   D&RGW   178   2005   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, Denver & Rio Grande Western   P         Bumble Bee W
81092   PRR   9660   2002   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, Pennsylvania Ver 5   P         W
81093   EBT   10   2002   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, East Broad Top Ver 5   P         W
81094   RGS   25   2002   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, Rio Grande Southern Ver 5   P         W
81095   SPC   21   2000   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10tn aniv, South Pacific Coast Ver 5   P         S
81096   WP&Y   10   2000   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, White Pass & Yukon Ver 5   P         W
81097   D&RG   12   2000   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, Denver & Rio Grande Ver 5   P         Wood burner S
81098   ET&WNC   12   2000   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, ET&WNC Ver 5   P         W
81099   None   None   2000   ~ Loco   4-6-0, 10th aniv, painted unlettered Ver 5    P         Wal 3 window cab

Of the above only the 81097 D&RG Woodburner has no rear headlight at all.

The Version 6 Annies have operating rear headlights except for 91605 which has no rear headlight.

Version 6 Anniversary 4-6-0's:
91601   EBT   10   2011   ~ Loco   4-6-0 Annie  East Broad Top            Ver 6 Metal Gears
91602   D&RGW   178   2011   ~ Loco   4-6-0 Annie  Denver & Rio Grande Western   Ver 6 Metal Gears
91603   RGS   25   2011   ~ Loco   4-6-0 Annie  Rio Grande Southern            Ver 6 Metal Gears
91604   SPC   22   2011   ~ Loco   4-6-0 Annie  South Pacific Coast            Ver 6 Metal Gears
91605   D&RG   10   2011   ~ Loco   4-6-0 Annie  Denver & Rio Grande  Ver 6      Ver 6 Metal Gears
91606   ET&WNC   11   2011   ~ Loco   4-6-0 Annie  Denver & Rio Grande Western   Ver 6 Metal Gears
91607   none   none   2011   ~ Loco   4-6-0 Annie painted unlettered Black   Ver 6 Metal Gears

The dummy loco mentioned by RkyGriz was never meant to be sold at retail and was part of a Sam's Club Sales display for one of the Christmas sets sold there and had no operating parts.  I can only conclude RkyGrz's 4-6-0's are not Anniversary 4-6-0's or were D&RG or are used with damaged rear headlights.

Thanks for all the inputs guys. Stupid me, I think I snapped the wire when I pulled the rear light to re-orient it.

Ron

Glad you found the problem.  Why did you want to reorient it?  Was it pointed forward?
