Is there another whistle other than the  Banschee whistle on the K4 4-6-2 Locomotive

Bucksco

3 whistles to choose from. Adjust the value of CV 115 - values are 0, 1 and 2.

I'm told that the 3-chime horn (CV115=1) is pretty close to what a K4 is supposed to sound like.

Steam engines had whistles, not horns ..... Except a few modern engines at the end of steam had an additional air horn.

The 3-chime on the K4 decoder was recorded off of a narrow gauge steamer on the Georgetown Loop in Colorado. If you play it next to a recording of the K4, they are noticeably different. They are also noticeably in the same family (the PRR passenger whistle also being a 3-chime). It is by far the closest of the three whistles on the decoder. It's a shame Bachmann didn't include the B&O 3-chime. It's still not right, but it's the closest in the Soundtraxx library.

Check out the new Tsunami 2 decoder . It has a fantastic Pennsy whistle on it .  I replaced the stock decoder on my K4 with an Econami decoder and use the B&O 3 chime whistle , but am thinking of upgrading to the Tsunami 2 decoder .

I might do that because the Econami and Soundtraxx 2 are the same size.
