Bachmann N scale ballast spreader

  I'm trying to find out if the Bachmann N scale ballast spreader will work on Kato Unitraack. Since that brand has fake ballast attached I wasn't sure if the spreader would work. I would like to use it to help hide the fake look of the Kato ballast.

The only real way to find out would be to try it.....

Of course, if it doesn't work I am out the money. It's not a lot, but I can't imagine no one has tried before.
