Recently bought an outside frame 0n30 consolidation and when I unplugged the two prong plug from beneath the cab the female portion pulled off the circuit board.  It seemed the other two prong plug on the board lead to the headlight so I unplugged that from the board and hard wired it to the one from the tender and the loco would not run.  It now seems the wires at the headlight are dead.  Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot and repair......Also...how can I check to be sure that the headlight is not burned out?

I had the same mishap a few years ago.
Luckily i could fall back on a box full of old pcb's and found a smd replacement.
I believe it is male in stead of female.
The connectors are so tight i pulled the pins from the pcb.

The resistor regulating the current for the LED is on the tender's pcb.
So hot wiring from that pcb to the head light shouldn't be a problem.
You can check the LED with a multimeter set to Diode setting.
It should slightly light up when testing in the correct polarity.
A LED is a diode and only works in one direction.

Thanks Ton

...The line to the headlight (at the headlight) seems to be dead now for some reason...Could the resistor have blown .  I tried to hot wire from the male plug leading from the tender directly to the headlight and the light flashed on then everything seemed to go dead.  The generator sound is there when I choose forward on the NCE handheld but there is no light.  Right now the engine runs fine and I have all the other functions....bell-whisle-horn-etc....The tech at Bachmann said I may have to default and re-assign the engine # to get power back to that line?

A typical LED draws about 20 milli Amps so blowing up the resistor is highly unlikely.
Try to follow the path of the LED power supply on the pcb maybe you connected to early.
That the Headlight flashed one time and then did nothing implies that there is to much current flowing.
It probably died.
