Adding a decoder to a DCC-Ready Climax

I would like to add a decoder to a DCC-Ready Climax. The Climax does not have an 8-pin socket as I imagined. Is there a plug that I can get that plugs into this loco so I can have connectivity with a standard 8-pin DCC decoder that plugs in?

If I could get the name of that plug (or a link) that would be great.

Also, is the DCC-Ready plug inside the boiler?

I just bought a Climax with sound and DCC installed. The decoder on mine is in the fuel bunker so maybe you have a DCC plug in the bunker on your model. I got to add, I'm never certain of these things in large scale.

I don't think that adapter is in my Climax-are you sure you can use a standard decoder? I thought these large scale engines needed specific decoders due to higher amp/volt
requirements.

This site says the Climax has a "slip current" of 2 amps (hard stall 5):

I don't pull a lot of cars.

I would think Bachmann would have some sort of harness available that plugs into the Climax and gives you either bare wires or a connection option.

The newest version of the Climax included an interface board for wiring in a decoder.

There are direct plug-in DCC decoders for the socket in the Climax available from QSI, Zimo, and ESU. All others can use the wired interface board (looks like a purple and blue porcupine), though space under the coal bunker may be at a premium for larger boards.

I haven't been able to get any response from QSI Solutions.

QSI is for all intents and purposes comatose at the moment. You can still find the Titan decoders at dealers here and there, but QSI apparently has not been filling orders for some time. I'd opt for Soundtraxx, TCS, or LokSound at the moment.
