Is it possible to add DCC sound to the ON30 2-6-0 Christmas Locomotive (Model: 25227)?

Thank you.

Hunt

Sure it is possible to add sound DCC - how much time and money do you want invest?

Click Here This is what Harold Minky has done. This is provided for general information to give you an idea of what can be required.  The DCC sound decoder Tsunami discontinued. Click Here for replacements

Some but not all alternative:
1)   Buy an On30 sound ready 2-6-0. Add sound module and swap shell.
2)   If you use the On30 only during the Christmas season, consider using Bluetooth Smart Train Control Click Here for info.

Gulp!  Yeah, I think that's a little bit more time and money than I'm willing ot expend.  Might try the shell swap though.

Thanks for the reply

For DCC in a Mogul here is what I would do now,

Use these instructions for the locomotive:

http://www.pacificcoastairlinerr.com/mogul_dcc/

Put either small Econami or Tsumani2 over the gear tower by cutting away the frame:

Run the speaker wires to the tender at the end of the frame, there is room.

Electrically connect the locomotive to the tender from this article:

http://www.pacificcoastairlinerr.com/mogul_dcc/page2.html

There are now only four wires.

Mount the speakers and make truck wipers from this article:

The Dallee style connectors are available on E-bay:

Lot easier than my early sound build.

Oh yeah, put two speakers like the article the paper cone, available as a "Philmore TS19" and a full range, the only thing to know about speakers the bigger the better.

Here is the difference:

I am sure this install has a good small speaker:

Here are the speakers from the article recorded on my old analog camcorder:

Thanks if you visit.
