I'm not sure if these types of posts are okay, but what is your locomotive roster? Im curious to see what other modellers collections are like

My collection is all HO but any other scale is welcome.

In HO, it was a bunch of 4-4-0's with a couple 0-4-0s, a couple 2-6-0's and a 2-8-0.

What is your locomotive roster? When I saw this, my mind went back to the 50s.  Articles in MR about peoples layouts, always had their locomotive rosters.  Not so any more.  Back in the old days if you had 10 locomotives you had a large fleet.  back then it was 90% steam. Now with 4 or 5 units per train it soon adds up.

My roster is very eclectic because I have equipment from G to Z scales... Yes, I am slightly addicted to model trains.

G-scale: a 1:29 scale doodlebug from Aristocraft (sp???)

3rail O-scale: post-war and 1970s Lionel - two FA's, an ARMY critter, a gang car, a 1970s MPC era Blue Comet 4-6-4, and a pair of 2-4-2s (or the like)

2rail O-scale: a trio of Atlas critters and Red Caboose GP9

HO-scale: There are too many to list individually, but they come from Varney, Bachmann, Lifelike, Tyco, Walthers, Scratch or Kitbashed one-of customs, AHM, NPP (brass), Mantua, John English (pre-Bowser), Kato, and Stewart. (and possibly others)

N-scale: an RS11, RS1, U-boat, FA2, a trio of EMD F-units, and a GP40-2 from Bachmann, Lifelike, or Atlas, a Bachmann doodlebug, and a pair of Kato RDCs (and I might be forgetting one or two)

Z-scale: None.


And in case you are wondering, I am presently working on shelf layouts in my apartment for the HO and N, and a portable display layout for the 2-rail O-scale. Did I mention that I have an addiction problem???

The largest steam engine I routinely use over my shortline is a 2-10-0 because of weight restrictions.   My line is a bridge between a Missouri Pacific mainline and a joint MP/SP interchange at the other end. The MP handles the switching at those points and sometimes will use a 2-8-2 for the job, once in a while a 4-8-2.  Those engines don't haul trains out on the line.  We lease engines from the Mopac, the Frisco, and the Rock Island.  

I bought the 2-10-2s, the 4-8-2, and the diesel A-B-B-A to operate on a giant club layout now torn down.  I keep them for the future, they won't be made again.

Believe it or not, all mine are in fairly frequently use.  When the GER expands into the other half of the basement, don't tell She Who Must Be Obeyed, and the staging doubles in size, practically all of them will be in use to run the planned full time table of 30 trains per day.  Timetable based on the CPR timetable upon which my railway is based.

Since the demise of the Spectrum series, my purchases of  steam locos has ceased.
