My friend just purchased the new sound value E7 and brought it over to show it off. Beautiful Engine ,but when it is slowing down rapidly the brake squeal does not work. Checking the Soundtraxx web site it shows CV 196 as brake squeal sensitivity the same as my sound value sd40-2 . What ever we set that setting at the brake squeal does not work on either. I have seen concerns in the past on the web about Bachmann Sound value sound decoder having errors in the literature but have been corrected and accurate to date. Being that these locos are late releases and they show Brake squeal sensitivity cv 196 with a default of 3. Is the literature posted wrong as with other sound value locos made in the past,or is there something wrong with our locos sound decoders?

Thanks,
Jon

Brake Squeal not supported by the decoder in either the E7 or SD40-2. These models are some of the Sound Value decoder documents with misprints to be corrected.

An aside - Note CV 139: Brake Squeal Volume is not listed in the document.

. . .
Where is one to go to get the honest accurate product information then?

Jon

To date for some models it is a DIY correcting what available project.
