Starting A New Outdoor Layout

Need ideas on elevated track support. I'm looking at placing regular 8x16 concrete block on individual beds of tamped crushed stone at 4 foot intervals and spanning the blocks with treated 2x8's then securing the track to the wood. This would be a quick way of getting a fairly simple layout up and running. Good or bad idea? Better suggestions requested.

Thanks

Bob,

Dont know why it would not work, I have seen it done.   Be sure uprights are solid and fastened to the base stones, and be sure the treated wood is dry(seasoned) so it will not warp or twist after you install it.  also be sure you install the 2x8's  with the warp(tree rings) facing down at the edges so they will not cup and hold water.

Have fun,
