Picked up the set on the cheap untested, in the box, cosmetically awesome, drive train stripped after running it in the shop a bit, I believe the model number 90096, the Bachman site lists one for a 94 and a 98 but not the 96, would one those work?

never mind, the gear on the drive axle had slid off off the grooved section of axle, won't slip again ")

Well that was short lived, now it has clicking in reverse, although smooth in forward, given the age, I think I best just replace it, after looking online, I'm wondering if I can use this, the paint scheme matches, and it has the upgraded piston gear, according to one video I can, can someone confirm?

Hi,
Yup, should work fine.  Since your original loco was a standard line model, there might be some minor fit issues when using the Anniversary version chassis.  Many report no problems.

You will not regret making this replacement.
