Holiday Trolley Keeps Stopping

I recently purchased the On30 Holiday Trolley and the HO reversing track set for my Dept. 56 Village. It works pretty well, but it will occasionally stop at one end of the track or the other and not start up without a little tap to get it moving again. The light on the trolley is lit when this occurs, so it's getting power and I'd assume has reversed itself. I tried cleaning the track with Bachmann track cleaner, but that didn't really make a difference. Sometimes it will run for a while without issue, then suddenly it will have the issue every 5 minutes or so. When the issue starts, the trolley always stops at the same end of the track. If I turn the trolley around, it will stop at the other end (this is true most of the time, but not 100%). If anyone has any ideas as to what I can check. Is the issue the track or the trolley. I don't have another engine right now to test with to see.

Sounds like the trolley itself...
The motor chassis comes off with two screws in the bottom, the outermost two if the diagram is correct. Pull it off and make sure nothing is binding. The gears are probably plastic. give them a look for any excess material that gets in the way. Also clean the motor contact surfaces, if visible/reachable.

efehser, Thanks for the reply. I'm a little hesitant taking it apart since it is brand new, it would still be covered under Bachmann's warranty, so after Christmas I may just send it to them to have a look at it unless someone else has other ideas.
