got the Denver /RioGrand from my late Father in law.  Is it supposed to steam and and have sound.  I have played with the switch and the knob on the coal car and engine and I get nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.  The set is running great and I just love it.

Lets do one part at a time,
The sound is in the tender, you have to plug in the cord between the engine and tender, also check inside the hatch of the tender, you will need a nine volt battery to put in there. The knob on the bottom is the sound volume. There will be a switch on the back of the locomotive, move that to turn on the sound.
Now for the smoke, you will need a few drops of smoke fluid, put them directly down the smoke stack, behind the builders plate on the front of the locomotive, you will find a switch, flip it to "on". You will have to run the train fairly quickly to set smoke out of the stack. Do not run the train with the switch "on" and no smoke fluid, it will burn out the smoke unit.
Happy Steamin'
