I bought a NScale - Bachmann 80451 - Steam Engine - Baltimore & Ohio 7600

Connected it with a new controller "Railpower 1370"

Engine ran for few minutes and then smoke came out and it stopped running

The front and back lights still comes on

I suspect the motor is maybe fried ....

Any ideas, how to open this engine to take a look at the motor.

Appreciate any help ....

Best Regards,

James in FL

This is the EM1 correct?
If so...

Exactly where did the smoke come from?
The Locomotive?
Or the Tender?

If from the lokie, then have a look and test the motor.
If from the tender, then have a look and test the decoder.

How to open the lokie and tender here;

Parts here;

Good luck

try Bachmann warranty - worst they can do is tell you to get lost  ;D
Bachmann UK returned mine twice - once to the dealer and then 2nd time to myself and admitted the fault was with the second engine axle/wheel set but could not repair because lack of parts - second time returned with missing valve gear .
it seems Bachmann UK do not honour the warranty .

lahori, I'm curious about something, if I may ask.

Were you running this engine at or near full throttle on the MRC 1370?
