I need to remove the side rods from the forward driver on the On30 ten-wheeler. What tool would be best suited to do this? From a distance, the side rod seems to be held on by around pivot stud. However, on closer inspection it looks like it might  be a hex-headed screw. Can anyone advise?

Hex head drivers is what it took for my 2-6-0. I had problems with finding the right one to fit all of them.
If you search back to February 26, 2018 I have a thread called "Backdating My Mogul" where I talked about it.
On Page 5 about halfway down.

I had the same problem a while ago.
I found a hex screw that fitted perfectly over the head.
I turned the top flat to have a better purchase.

As a general rule, most all the nuts and screws on Bachmann models are metric.  For best fit, you need metric hex drivers.  I believe Micor-Mark sells a set.
