Placing figures in trolley

Last Christmas I picked up a G Scale Christmas Trolley #93940. I would like to know if I can take it apart and put figures on the seats inside.

The roof fittings snap around six tabs. The six tabs are located along the top of body shell, three on each long side.

Good luck removing the roof without damage to the roof or the shell. No replacement shell or roof currently available.
