I have a very simple layout. O bought a Bachmann locomotive with DCC sound. I don't want the sound. How can I turn it off?

F8 is the mute button. You will have to mute it every time it fires up, probably.

A little more drastic method would be to open it up and disconnect the speaker.

You could try turning the Master sound down all the way with the proper CV. Been quite a few years since I messed with sound so not sure.
