Train won't stop

Ok now you know the problem isn't the engine , it is the "controller " which appears to be an EZ Command if it came with the Echo Valley.  Call Bachmann for resolution.  They'll probably give you a replacement.  They aren't that expensive.  Another probably could be had on eBay for cheep, people are upgrading out of them all the time.

If you are going to replace the controller yourself, why not look at what else is out there. Full featured starter sets are available for $20-30 more than a new EZ Command.

I recommend choosing jward's suggestion. You'll get a new loco with it (i believe...)!

Really weird, was happening almost half the time I attempted to park the trains.  Hasn't happened again for several days.  I think I'll just keep an eye on it for now.  I don't think the room temperature has changed appreciably during this period (I'm assuming an A/D converter zeroing problem inside the controller).
