hi everyone
                  i have come into possession of a n gauge bachmann dewitt clinton train set on investigation to find the reason it doesnt work i have found that it is missing the 2 springs that push the carbon brushes onto the armature is they anyone that could give me an idea where i might be able to obtain them

I thinking of springs used in some Kadee couplers. Check the Kadee site. I looked at some photos and the springs looked quite small.
Maybe a ball point pen spring.
Just a guess.
Do you have a local hardware store? I have two in my small city with bins off many parts ans all kinds of springs.

Atlas and Kato both sell brush springs with brushes. Con-Cor too?
Brush pressure is more critical than you know.
There is science to it.
Been there, done that.
I measured tension by trial and error.
Not fun. Not recommended.
