Bachmann turnouts 44561/44562

Hi Folks
I want to replace the standard Bachman remote switch. Are the above turnouts AKA "snap switches"?

Yes they are. Look at the wires that come with them and they are not labeled DCC.. DCC would cost more.

Snap switch is Atlas's term for a similar switch but the geometry is not the same. ON the Bachmann switches the curved route is 30 degrees, on an Atlas snap switch it is 20 degrees, with an additional 10 degree section of 18" radius curve to make a full 30 degree curve. With the added curve section, the Atlas snap switch is the equivalent of the Bachmann switch. But the ability to design yards and other track formations around that 20 degree curve makes the Atlas version a bit more flexible in track planning because they take up less room. In the era before EZ track, almost everybody who marketed train sets in HO had a switch with the same geometry as the Atlas snap switch.
