I am in search of the trucks that are on the FT diesels with the easy app version, such as model #68902. These trucks are different from the earlier versions in that the middle of the ends of the trucks have a recess in them on the upper half, so they are not blunt on the ends. I am making custom coupler mounts in order to install the coupler heads closer to the locomotive for a more realistic prototype spacing between the locomotives in my ABBA set. I had ordered what I needed from Ruth at Bachmann, and they were not right, so she sent another set and they were the same and not right, either. I was told thatís all that they have. The model number of what they sent is H615X-00A0-PR-B. The online catalog also shows another model number, but I was told that they are both the same.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Rather than changing the trucks there are other options for getting closer coupled locomotives. The real FTs were often built as drawbar connected A-B sets, with couplers on only one end of each unit. A drawbar should be easy to make from a piece or brass or plastic strip. The other option would be to replace the existing couplers with shorter shank ones. Kadee makes short shank couplers that should work.
