Hi folks, I remember there was a big bru ha ha about the RRAMPMETER some time ago.  I would like to know what youall's experience has been.  Does it work?  Is it too expensive?  What are your thoughts?  I'm really dense about things electrical, would it be easy to use?
Thanks, Paul G

It works.

Whether you actually need one or not is the question. These days you can get a reasonably close to true RMS multimeter that will give the same readings for a lot less. But some folks like having a permentantly mounted meter for their layout, which multimeters aren't so great for. Also, multimeters don't have a "DCC Present' light to let you know if you're actually looking at DCC, or AC connected to the wrong place. And the end contacts and 'DCC Present' light can be really helpful for checking connections between modules with a modular layout. Especially one that's set up at shows.

So, what it really comes down to is what are you looking for in a meter, and what are you willing to pay for it?

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.
