Hello all,

I have set up a layout for my son and am digging out my old stash of trains. I have a 4-8-4 Daylight that I purchased in 1994 but never used.

( I bought it because I always wanted it but could not afford it as a kid, hoping that someday I would be able to use it)

Well someday has arrived. When I run it it will run for about five minutes and then it stops. The headlight remains on but the motor remains quiet as a mouse. Does 14 years in a closet affect these things?

Is there a short/bad connection that is common with this train?

Thanks,

It sounds like a loose wire between power and motor to me.  Take off the shell and look at the wire joints.
Good luck.  It probably needs to be cleaned and lubed since you have the shell off.

If this is the old flat pancake motor.  If you have the shell off.  Just lift up the brush cover and let
it snap back on the brush.
This has worked on my locomotive.
