I would like to make a layout that is 5' by 5'
Is there a piece of plywood, or other board,
that size so I don't have to cut a 4' by 8'

If so, where could I get it.
If not, any ideas?

I am making a layout similiar to

Thanks

It would be helpful if your profile,or your post, indicated where you reside.

I'm positive that what is available here in Canada, over in Australia or in the States is all going to be different.

I know I can go to a local plywood manufacturer and order damn near any size sheet a guy could ever want.

Thanks

I reside on Long Island, New York

I did see anything off the shelf like a 5' by 5' at home depot

I didn't ask either

Try asking for a 5 X 9 sheet for making a ping pong table. Usually they stock those, in 1/2" thickness, and will do at least one cut for free.

Out of curiosity, why would you want just  a sheet of plywood?  What about framing?  And if you do plan to frame, then you could build to any spec you want, and cut the plywood to fit; or simply buy a pair of sheets, put one onto the frame, and then cut the second one as needed.

If I were going to use plywood, I would go with a 4 by 8 and cut it.

5'0 sheets of plywood are available. I purchase mine from a lumber store called Home Hardware.I know it is not available from our local Home Depot.

Nematode:
5' x 5' plywood is available from any commercial plywood supply co., but not Lowes, Home Depot, etc..   It is called "Baltic Birch" and has no knots in any of the plys.  It is made in Finland and/or Russia, comes in mm thicknesses (rather than inches...but they are close enough it makes little difference) and is quite high-priced.  It is, frankly, much higher quality than what you need for a train table.  The idea of cutting down a 5' x 9' ping-pong sheet is probably your best bet, if you insist on using a single piece.

As noted, you can find ping-pong table plywood at some specialty lumber suppliers.  However, if you want to put up a flat plywood train table, you still need to give it some basic framing to keep it from warping.  In which case, you can then piece together the top from regular 4 x 8 sheets.  Hint, use exterior grade plywood.  It has less chance of warpage in general and it is not much more expensive than interior grade.
