Who else has been having electricial Problems with the New Bachmann Spectrum Heavy Weight Coach cars.....?????

If you are having problems with the carriage sparking or shorting out your transformer every time it traversers a set of Points as we call them in Australia or Switches as you guys call the or Crossovers .

I found that the Bogie metal side frames hang down to low and the metal side frame rubs up against the rail head causing a short circuit.

I have contacted Bachmann and sent them pictures but have not recieved any responce.

To rectify the problem  which is a Manufacturing Fault with these carriages
(89302)

Remove the Wheels from the bogie and file off approx 1 to 1.5 mill off the bottoms of the side frames . mainly under the Axle Boxes.

This will solve the shorting problem....!

I'll take note, I don't have carriages- but might help later.

I just wonder if you have the wrong wheeles.  They should be 36 inch.  I wonder if they might be 33 inch wheeles.

As Ram said, make sure you are 36" wheels, which is what passenger cars use, at least in the 1950s.

33" wheels are freight car wheels.
