Changing HO Union Pacific Engine coupler

I am new to model railroading and cannot figure out how to remove the broken coupler from my Union Pacific HO Engine so that I can replace it. Can anyone help?

Union Pacific is very little help to those who cannot see it.  What kind of engine (specifically what prototype is it a model of) is it, who made it, how old is it, etc., etc., ?
