Too bad the Road boxcar is much too modern for me.  Otherwise it would be perfect for one of those cars that gets lost in a railroad Moebius loop and never gets home.  :D

Good work Kyle.  How about a quick summary as to how you weathered the box car. Pastel chaulk? Air brush? or just what?

Thanks Bill and all for the kind words.

I do not have an airbrush, and do not use chalk. I don't have one set "recipe" for weathering. On the MILW, I started by spray painting the inside of the shell primer gray, allowing some over spray to dust the bottom half of the car.

Somewhere in there I gave it a coat of dullcote. Most of the rust you see is hand painted oils. I will also LIGHTLY dust the body with brown tempura powder, and pack some black tempura powder into the areas that would get greasy, like around the doors.

I'll take an alchohol swab and clean certain areas, like around the number.

I do have some cheap womens makeup I'll brush on with a soft brush to bring out the rivets and other high spots. I buff the shell with a soft shoe brush. I did not do a black wash on this one.

Thanks for the interest.

ps. Here's a new one from a P2K kit.
