Recreating places on Sodor

Since I've started a topic about Brendam Docks, I've decided to start a thread on recreating other locations on Sodor such as Knapford station, Tidmouth sheds(6 or 7 stalls), Mr. Jolly's Chocolate factory, etc. This will not only help me but also other modelers. ;)

For Tidmouth sheds, a round house takes A LOT of room, even in HO scale. But, small wooden beams will provide the BEST structure for your round house. Here's an example with the compliment's from Flickr!:

Also note that Tidmouth Sheds uses a "Pit" turntable, you'd probably like to use the simple Atlas flat top, but it isn't true to the real deal on the television.

NOT TO GET:

WHAT TO GET (if it in your budget!):

^Here's a site with a bunch of them in different sizes:

Best of luck! ;)

What I'm looking for is a turntable to fit Spencer as he is the longest engine currently in the line. i don't own him yet(I have an Emily Passenger set) but i hope to get him as well as other characters soon. ;)

try the walthers 90' turntable

and there is a cool 6 stall roundhouse just like the original thomas set

And to be truly accurate, the turntable should not have a pit rail. The Tidmouth turntable only has a center pivot (evident from Tenders and Turntables, when Gordon put the table out of balance ;D).

Hmmmmmmmmmm....... ??? The turntable looks promising, but I'm thinking of the a seven stall Tidmouth sheds for update reasons.

I think they sell 1 stalled roundhouse add-ons, but I'm not sure. But again, doing it with wood will allow a more personal effect. ;) But not everyone had that kind of skill yet, but I don't know you, meaning your skills, so it's really your call, but some members can give A LOT of information if you need it. ;)

Heljan makes a 3 stall roundhouse kit, and 3 stall add ons. 7 is a really odd number, and I can't think of any railroad off the top of my head that used that number, although I'm sure several did. I'd sacrifice 1 stall and just do 6 for simplicity. People rarely notice the difference unless they are pointed it out.
Alpine Division Scale Models currently makes a metal, 3 stall roundhouse, and are planning on releasing additions in the form of 3 stalls, and 1 stall kits. I don't think you've ever built a metal kit before... If its a white metal kit it can go together with CA, but a brass kit will need lots of pinpoint soldering...
American Modelbuilders sells 6 stall roundhouse as well as a single stall add on, but totaled together it is over 300$...

Nuts!  :'( Oh, well. When all else fails, scratchbuild. :)

He wants the seventh stall because a seventh stall was added in order to accommodate Emily. Or you could make room by modeling Ffarquhar Sheds in addition to Tidmouth Sheds. Ffarquhar Sheds are at the end of Thomas' branch, in the books and in the early TV series. It's a three engine shed, made of conjoined single sheds. One is brick and two are stone. Thomas, Toby, and Percy can live there, freeing up room for others in the roundhouse.

Hey, it is an investment! ;)

GG,
Is is possible to get the one stall add-on from American Modelbuilders without the the other six?

Why can't you all go for turntables and roundhouses made by European manufacturers? It helps get the real looks of the show. American stuff is just lazy and if you go quanity over quality.  ::)

You live in the U.K., right? Some of us live in the States, and so European stuff is kinda pricey due to the weak dollar *sigh.* :(

Sparks lives in america.

If I were you, I'd save up and get quality products. Even if you want some sheds, buy the dapol single shed, get another two, and build them. Then you have a place for Thomas, Toby and Percy.

It's the shipping for me, and also, he's right about the weak value of a dollar, the currency equal is pretty fair amount. But the shipping has it for me. :-\
