does anyone know if its easy to remove the DCC decoder from bachmann's HO scale GE 45 tonner? if so i want to get one so i can run with it my bachmann DC 44 tonner.

its not removeable unless you remove the entire board. and it will run with the 44 right out of the box. the 45 is geared to be slower then the 44 ton so its not advisable to run them together.

The 45 ton loco is sold DCC ready which means you can run it on DC right out of the box, plus it cost less than one with the decoder on board/equipped.
Example.

The 45 tonner has always been sold DCC, I think that you mean the 44 tonner which has been sold DCC ready (The newest run will be DCC).

Yeah, my bad. I looked at the link and saw SD45 but they are really 44 ton. Too quick on the key board.
I have not seen the inside of the 45 ton.

I know my Richmond 4-4-0 and 4-6-0 have DCC adapters included. I just unplug the decoder, connect the adapter if I ever want to run DC.

The Bachmann, in a recent thread, said that the 44 tonners will get decoders this fall. He's also hoping that some diesels will get sound though he has NOT heard anything about that.
