Use a Grain of Wheat (GOW) bulb or even a small (dashboard type) bulb designed for automobiles.  Connect the GOW wires to the track terminals of the power pack you are testing.  If your power pack requires a special plug, make sure you have the proper plug and cord.  Plug the one end into the power pack and connect the GOW bulb to the other end (one wire to each GOW wire.)  If you use the small auto lamp, you will probably have to solder two wires to it.

With the bulb in place, plug in the power pack and turn the throttle (speed control) up and down.  The bulb should light brightly at the full speed position, then dim as you turn down the speed control, and probably go out at minimum speed.
Growing older is mandatory but growing up is optional.
