davenport and batteries?

I just got a davenport for my son...he and I both love it.

I run battery power outside...I am about to work on setting up the loco for battery power.

any hints or suggestions?

You'll need strip out the existing board and use a small pack like this one -

I get better than 5 hours of run time from the 11.1v 2.2Ah versions of these.
I use the trailer car option with simple (non RC) control-

I opened the hood and pulled out plugs to see what happens:

The red and white wired plug in fornt of the engineer's seat goes to themotor.

the brown and white wired plug goes to the wheels...power pickup from the track...I inserted a double pole switch there that will switch form track to battery power.  two leads will run to a connector on the rear buffer for connecting to a battery car with controls.

not bad at all...
