I just recently finished a model that will become Luke's Diner (based on Woodland Scenics Carol's Corener Cafe http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/items.cfm/HOScaleKits#11300).

I have to say its the best model building I have done so far:

That last picture shows the roof, which I am particularly proud of but unfortunately the picture doesn't do it justice. All I had for black paint was some Testors black which is pretty gloss so I sprinkled on some black ballast while it was still wet. It gives it a dull flat look.

Those DPM models are great. Good job! Another thing you could use on the roof would be sand paper, the black kind in a 400 grit or better.

Very nice, the window glazing looks especially realistic.

pdlethbridge: I hadn't thought about sandpaper, I'll have to try that if I ever run out of black ballast

Yampa Bob: The windows are one of my few peeves with the DPM models, I hate cutting the window panes out of the sheet of plastic that comes with the kit. Maybe its time to change the blade in my knife though...

Jerry: Yeah I really lucked out on the colors, and my wife definitely deserves some credit for helping me pick them out. The green is Light Avocado and the red is Heritage Brick (DecoArt Americana paint, on sale at my local hobby lobby). What I liked is how it looks aged, but maintained. I don't like old buildings that are left looking old and worn just because they are old and worn.
