i have a EMD GP40 loco
is it possible to get an F7A "body" if that's the right term for this loco?

This isn't going to work, unless the GP40 mechanism and/or the F7A body ("shell") is way out of scale to the right degree. The F7 is considerably shorter.

 I have tried this in the past and found that it didn't work either, unless I stretched the F unit shell. What I am now saying is this I concur with Mr. David Leonard.
