Replacing EM-1 Decoder

Just read in the General form that they were having trouble with a decoder in Germany, and that clipping the caps corrected the problem. So, will do this when I start the project. Was somewhat worried it would create a open circut. Why does this not open the circut? Bill

The caps are not in series with the motor current. The inductors are in series with the motor current. Some setups use one cap and two inductors. Some two caps, some three caps but always two inductors. The items are for a filter circuit. The motors get, PWM power not pure DC from the decoders. Pulse Width Modulation.
