Tomar pickups

Has anyone here ever used the Tomar pickups that are (usually) installed on tenders?  Hoiw much trouble are they to install?  How easy are they to find?  Do they really do the job intended?

Rich - I have used the Tomar pick ups on any traversers (transfer tables) I build. The pick ups are screwed to the bottom of the table and connected via wiring to the table tracks. On the floor of the traverser pit, I glue a short piece of brass (only long enough equal the travel length of the traverser. The brass strips are connected to the under-layout buss. I have found the Tomar pick ups to be reliable and useful in that one can remove the table easily (for maintenance) without disconnecting any wiring.

The pick shoes work very well if installed correctly. You need some mechanical experience as these shoes drag on the track and can catch at rail gaps if the gaps are not smooth. The pickups are usually mounted to the bottom of the car. Do a Google search for tomar pickups. You will get the company and different sources, people who use them and maybe info about pickup trucks. Lol.
